One Stop Carpel Tunnel Clinic

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common condition of the hand which can cause numbness, tingling in the fingers and pain. When severe, people can be woken up frequently at night by the symptoms, and numbness can cause difficulty using the hand for fine tasks.

The definitive treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome is a surgical release, which is usually done under local anaesthetic.

We run a one-stop carpal tunnel clinic at Kent and Sussex Hospital. If we receive a referral letter from a GP or other hospital specialist which indicates that their patient is likely to have carpal tunnel syndrome, we offer them an appointment at the one-stop clinic.

In this clinic patients will meet with the surgeon, and if considered appropriate, will undergo surgery shortly afterwards or on the same afternoon. This has proved very popular with our patients as they are able to receive treatment in a single visit to the hospital.
