Early Arthritis Clinic

Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital offers a one-stop early arthritis clinic led by consultant rheumatologist Dr Taher Mahmud.   We aim to diagnose and initiate the most appropriate treatment for your arthritis condition all in the one visit.

Dr Taher Mahmud, MD, MSc, FRCP, has a Rheumatology practice at Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury, is the Lead for Osteoporosis at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Who can use the clinic?
The one-stop clinic is open to all patients and there is no need for medical insurance.  If you don’t have private medical insurance or you have exclusions on your policies, our one-off private treatment is available.

Do I need a referral?
If you are using your private medical insurance, referrals can be made via your GP, accident and emergency doctor, or any other medical practitioner. You may also self refer if you feel your symptoms merit specialist opinion after reading the information contained in these pages.

If you’re paying for your own treatment, you don’t need a referral from your GP.
